Radiology technologists take images of the human body.
Also known as radiographers, radiology technologists use sophisticated technology to take images of the human body for diagnostic purposes. In addition to performing diagnostic tests, radiology technologists are also responsible for administrative duties while working under the supervision of a physician. Radiology technology programs are offered at the bachelor’s and associate degree levels.

Los Angeles City College provides a variety of vocational courses in fields such as nursing, engineering, computer science and business. The associate degree course in radiologic technology is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). Prospective applicants must pass specific prerequisite courses including anatomy and physiology, mathematics, English and radiologic technology 101. Students are also required to meet certain physical health requirements. In addition, applicants should possess good visual and auditory skills, as well as gross and fine motor coordination, and good communication skills.

Lansing Community College
Lansing Community College offers a variety of associate, certificate and diploma courses in various fields of study including aviation electronics, computer graphics, dance and interior design. The radiologic technology course is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT), and is a 21-month associate degree program. Students who successfully complete the training will be eligible to take the national license examination, which is administered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Course highlights include radiologic physics, cross-sectional anatomy, clinical practice, and introduction to imaging.

Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts
Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts is in four cities in California, and was established in 2004. The academy offers a wide array of vocational courses in health care such as nursing, psychiatric technician, ultrasound technology and MRI technology. The radiologic technology program is designed to train students in the use of various cutting edge medical imaging technology. In addition to taking classroom training, students will also learn the practical application of their training in a clinical setting. Prospective applicants must have a high school diploma and a minimum grade point average of 2.7. In addition, applicants must have 15 credit hours of courses which include mathematics, arts and humanities, natural science and social sciences.
