Trading on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange can be easy enough if you are an options trader or a commodities trader. There are many products that can be traded on the CME, such as corn, grains, oil, steel, gold, silver and different types of index futures, such as S&P futures and Nasdaq futures. To trade on the CME, you need to have an broker that actually trades products on the CME, as the exchange does not let just anyone trade on the floor. You have to place trades through a seat holder or firm that is licensed to trade on the CME.
Instructions
1. Deposit capital into a brokerage account with a firm that trades on the CME floor. Look for firms that specialize in the particular products that you are looking to trade, such as oil, gas or grain commodities.
2. Contact your brokerage firm and talk strategies with them on the proper course of trading, such as size of position, limit orders and other metrics involved in trading. Make sure orders are placed when you want or as close as possible.
3. Execute trades with the CME floor trader. Make sure to get the best price available for your trade and make sure the trader is using the best technology available, including high frequency trading.
4. Check to make sure your online account has been credited via the online account with your broker. Order flow should be seen instantaneously.
