Make A Breast Cancer Awareness Ribbon

Pink ribbons symbolize breast cancer awareness.

Like a red ribbon for AIDS awareness and a yellow ribbon to honor our troops, the pink ribbon is a symbol of breast cancer awareness. A simple pink ribbon shows your support, courage and love for those living with or those who have lost a loved one to breast cancer. Many pink ribbons are sold, and the proceeds support breast cancer research. With a few simple and inexpensive items, you can make your own personalized breast cancer awareness ribbon to wear with every outfit.

Instructions

1. Lay your ribbon down on a flat surface vertically. Cut your ribbon so that it is 8 inches long.

2. Write a one- or two-word message ("Hope", "Remember", "In Memory", "With Love") or the person's name you are supporting in puff paint on one end of the ribbon. This is optional, but it will make the ribbon more special. Allow one hour for the paint to dry.

3. Keep the ribbon vertical, holding down the bottom end of the ribbon with your hand. With your other hand, pull the top part of the ribbon around to the right and crossing it over the other end.

4. Insert a straight pin where the ribbon intersects to keep the ribbon together. Pin the ribbon onto your shirt when you want to wear it.
