Radiology is a growing field in medicine, and the job market for radiology technicians is expanding right along with it. Georgia has more than 20 different colleges that offer radiology technician training programs. While it's good to have so many options available, sometimes it also makes it confusing. Here is a step-by-step process to help you narrow down your choices and find a program that fits your needs.

1. Choose potential schools with an easy commute from your home. Georgia has quite a few technical schools and colleges that offer radio technician training programs. Emory University, Athens Technical College, Heart of Georgia Technical College and DeKalb Medical Center are a few of the schools that offer radiology technician training programs. 2. Research the selected schools to see if they have a program that fits best with your current schedule. Some programs offer night classes before you start clinical study, and others offer strictly day schedules.
3. Contact the schools, either via phone or email, and request more information and a program application. Find out if the prospective schools interview applicants. Learn more about the actual training. Does the school only focus on X-ray technology, or does it offer sonography and MRI training as well?
4. If possible, arrange a visit to the school. Some schools have special orientations and tours for potential students. If the school does not offer one, try to visit it anyway. Get a feel of the campus and meet some of the staff.
5. Apply to at least two schools, preferably three. The more applications you have out there, the better the chances you will have in getting accepted into a good program. Also, it's always better to have options when it's time to officially select a school.
