Huntsville, Alabama, is located on the northern border of the state. High school students and adults have four colleges to choose from, including Bible studies, community college and four-year institutions. Huntsville Bible College
Huntsville Bible College offers evening and online classes for students who wish to earn a degree in biblical studies or theology. The college grants certificates, associate degrees and bachelor's degrees. In addition to biblical studies, students take general education and professional courses before graduating. Applications for admission can be filled out online, but must be printed and mailed to the office of the registrar with an application fee for admission.
Columbia College
Columbia College offers both two-year and four-year degrees. Students can also obtain a Master of Business Administration degree from the college. The main college campus is located in Columbia, Missouri, but a campus at Redstone Arsenal is available for Huntsville residents. The Redstone Arsenal campus specializes in the education of adults and military personnel. Classes are held in eight-week blocks with two meetings per week. Five class sessions start each year, as of 2011. The application process can be completed online. Students will be asked for a high school diploma or GED.
Virginia College at Huntsville
Virginia College on Drake Avenue is a career and technical college offering diplomas, associate and bachelor's degrees. Areas of study for diplomas and associate degrees include health, business and computer technology. Bachelor's degree programs are limited to business, criminal justice and computer technology. College credits earned while attending Virginia College may not transfer to other colleges, so prospective students are encouraged to contact the school they wish to transfer credit to before applying for admission. Applications are accepted online.
Calhoun Community College
Calhoun Community College is a two-year college offering online and on-campus courses. Students can study humanities, mathematics, science and nursing, among other courses. Dual enrollment and early college enrollment are supported. Dual enrollment allows students to attend both college and high school simultaneously. Calhoun Community College offers college athletics for men and women who want to participate in baseball or softball. Applications can be submitted online. Prospective students need to create an account on the Calhoun Community College website in order to submit an application.
