The University of West Florida--Emerald Coast confers bachelor's and graduate degrees only 25 minutes southwest of Niceville. Undergraduate students major in accounting, computer science and criminal justice. The Graduate School features graduate programs spanning fields from military history to educational leadership. West Florida Research & Education Center
The West Florida Research & Education Center is a University of Florida campus located 45 minutes west of Niceville. This campus focuses on bachelor's programs in turf management, landscape and nursery horticulture and natural resource conservation. The school also offers a minor in wildlife ecology and conservation. Students also take classes from the Gainesville campus through the distance education lab. Milton Gardens is a large campus garden used by students and faculty for coursework. The University of Florida--Milton Student Club is a student organization that runs plant sales, horticulture education events and other activities outside of the classroom.

The Okaloosa Applied Technology Center, located 20 minutes southwest of Niceville, Florida, focuses on adult vocational courses. This vocational college offers its part-time and full-time diploma programs on weekday evenings to accommodate full-time professionals.
