Radiology Tech Programs In Alabama

Radiologic technicians perform medical diagnostic imaging procedures.

Radiology technologists and technicians are responsible for providing physicians with images that are made from medical diagnostic equipment. These images help the physicians diagnose and treat medical conditions. Radiologic technology programs are available in the state of Alabama and provide students with the training and education that prepares them for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists examination.

University of South Alabama

The University of South Alabama has two program options within radiologic technology: a certificate in radiologic technology or a bachelor’s degree in radiologic sciences. Students can complete the certificate option in 24 months, while those who chose to pursue the bachelor’s degree option will complete the program in four years. Students in the degree program have the option of enrolling in the advanced imaging track in which enrollment is limited. Courses in this program include principles of radiographic exposure, patient care and ethics pertinent to radiology, radiographic contrast media, radiography of the osseous system, radiation biology and ultrasound anatomy and scanning techniques.
