Become A Project Manager For United Health Group

United Health Group is one of the largest companies in the health industry, and they hire many project managers every year. Project managers working for the company specialize in areas such as clinical trials, research, case advocacy, and at their health centers. These managers handle projects on a case by case basis, working with employees and handling administrative tasks such as ensuring the budget and deadline is met. Those interested in working in the field must have the proper qualifications to handle the job.

Instructions

1. Volunteer at non-profit and other organizations relating to health care. There are many people working in project manager positions who got their start by volunteering. This gives you experience in the health care field and working with larger or smaller groups. Volunteering work also counts for the minimum experience qualifications put forth by United Health, which is usually 3 to 5 years of experience or more.

2. Work in the health care industry. The advantage to working in the health care industry is that it adds experience to your resume and shows that you've worked as part of a group and under a manager before. You can even try working for United Health Group in a lesser capacity such as an administrative assistant. They typically don't hire entry level workers, but require that their project managers have a significant amount of experience first.

3. Receive a Bachelor's degree in Business Management or a related field. United Health Group considers a Bachelor's degree a requirement for all their project managers. You absolutely must have this degree if you plan to work for the company. For larger projects and those requiring several different departments or locations, they even require an advanced degree such as a Master's.

4. Gain acceptance into one of the project management organizations. These organizations charge an annual fee, but they give you access to events only open to members. It's the chance to network with other professionals, learn more about the field and hear about potential job offers before they're opened to the general public.

5. Apply for positions as a project manager by looking at the listings on the United Health Group Careers Website. United Health Group lists all their available positions on their Website. This includes jobs in North America and other areas such as Asia and Europe. They allow potential employees to apply directly on the Website. You'll find it listed in our Resources section.
