Choose A Radiology Technician School In Michigan

Radiology technicians take x-rays and do other tests for patients. They also inject nonradioactive dye into patients to diagnose images easier. There are a lot of job opportunities for radiology technicians in Michigan and many places to go for training. The Michigan government has become active in recruiting and educating workers to fill the 100,000 health care job openings in Michigan, and radiology technicians are already sought after by doctors who haven't been able to find anyone qualified to fill their open positions. There's a lot more competition among Michigan schools to develop more specialized training programs. That can make it easier to choose a radiology technician school in Michigan.

Instructions

1. Decide what location in Michigan you want to be trained. There are programs, hospitals and colleges offering radiology technician training all over the state. If there isn't a program in the area you're interested in, online classes are available from many colleges in and outside of Michigan.

2. Look over the programs offered by Baker College. There are campuses in Clinton Township, Muskegon and Owosso that offer radiology technician programs resulting in an Associate's degree. The programs last two years and Baker's job placement rate has been above 90 percent for years.

3. Apply for the Mott Community College and Hurley Medical Center School of Radiology Technology programs in Flint. You'll take classes including English composition, writing across the curriculum, speaking across the curriculum, human anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, intermediate algebra and general psychology. Even though there's an agreement for transfer of 30 credits from the School of Radiologic Technology, you have to apply separately to the Hurley Medical Center program. Call 810-762-0317.

4. Take advantage of the partnership between Wayne State University's Department of Health Care Sciences and Henry Ford Hospital. They're offering a new program that offers a Bachelor of Science degree in radiologic technology. A 24 month part of the program is taught at Henry Ford Hospital. For information call 313-916-7952. Get an application from Applebaum College of Enrollment Management at Wayne State University.

5. Call 906-228-9440 for information on a program in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Marquette General Health System offers a certificate program in Radiography. If you would rather train in Michigan's capitol, Lansing Community College offers an associate's degree in radiologic technology.
