Health Fair Topics

Seek student volunteers from local colleges as runners for your health fair.

A health fair is a chance for stakeholders from a particular sector of the health-care industry to network and share information. Determining a topic for your health fair is a first step in planning the event; once you have selected a key theme, market your fair to your target participants. Design a corporate sponsorship strategy and seek sponsorship from organizations within your niche market.

Research and Development

Make a name tag for each registered exhibitor.

A key topic in health is research and development. Focus your health fair on research and development. Invite research think tanks, academic institutions, private industry research entities and other key stakeholders to the fair. Market the fair to leaders in the research and development industry; these organizations should also be your focus when seeking sponsorship for the fair.

Allied Health

Center your health fair on the topic of allied health. Allied health workers are health professionals who support the work of dentists, physicians and podiatrists. Physiotherapists, radiologists and technicians are examples of allied health professionals. Tailor your fair to the needs of allied health workers, with booths focusing on professional development. Alternatively, tailor your fair to the needs of the industry with booths established by private industry, clinics, hospitals and professional associations.

Chronic-Disease Management

Make the theme of your fair chronic-disease management. Present information on chronic diseases, like HIV and multiple sclerosis, as well as diabetes and other long-term health conditions; do so by inviting the official society of each disease to the fair. Invite health professionals, researchers and private industries that focus on these chronic diseases to your fair. Seek a sponsor for a networking coffee break; participants will find high value in chatting with other chronic-disease stakeholders about issues and best practices.

Healthy Living for Families

Healthy living for families is another idea for the theme of your health fair. Have nutritionists present healthy menu tips for families on site. Ask recreation specialists to set up booths and provide information on the importance of physical activity. You could also have family medicine physicians on site to conduct routine blood pressure checks and share tips on health maintenance.
