The Top Occupational Therapy Graduate Programs

Boston University has the top-rated gradutae program in occupational therapy, according to U.S. News & World Report.


Occupational therapists (OTs) help people who are mentally, physically or emotionally disabled (either temporarily or permanently) improve their daily lives by aiding them in developing everyday skills. Becoming an OT requires a rigorous training and educational regime, including a higher, or graduate, degree in Occupational Therapy. While many universities around the world offer graduate programs in OT, the top hospitals and medical centers look first at students who come from the best-rated programs.


Boston University: Boston, Massachusetts


As of 2010, according to the popular college rating system published annually by U.S. News & World Report, the top-rated occupational therapy graduate program is at Boston College (see Reference 1). Boston University offers a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy (usually completed in about two years) and a Doctor of Science in Rehabilitation Sciences (the amount of time it takes to achieve a Doctor of Science can vary). Washington University in St. Louis


Another of the top graduate programs in occupational therapy is at Washington University in St. Louis (see Reference 1). Washington University also offers a two-year Masters Degree and a highly individualized doctoral program (see Reference 3).


University of Southern California, Los Angeles, California


The University of Southern California also has a top-rated occupational therapy graduate program (see Reference 1). USC offers a one-year masters program, a two-year masters program and a doctoral program (see Reference 4).
