Clean Ameda Breast Pump

Ameda has been one of the most trusted brands when it comes to breast pumps for over 60 years. They have a variety of breast pump styles that are sure to fit anybody who needs to use one. In order for the pumps to last, you must take proper care of them. A poor washing technique can damage the pieces of the pump, thus not allowing it to work up to its original capabilities. Also not cleaning it thoroughly can result in a build up of bacteria. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Disassemble the collection kit completely, and spread the pieces out. Set the tubing, white plastic cap and white plastic pump connector aside. These three pieces do not have to be washed as they do not come in contact with the milk.

2. Put the remaining pieces in a large pot. Fill the pot with water, and set it on the stove.

3. Set the stove to high heat, and let the water boil for 20 minutes. This will sanitize the pieces.

4. Remove the pieces from the water immediately after boiling, and let them air dry.

5. Disassemble the pump. Be sure that every piece is taken apart to ensure the best possible cleaning.

6. Wash each part of the pump and collection kit, excluding the tubing, white cap and white pump connector, with hot water and a mild dish soap. You can use a sponge for most pieces, but you may need a baby bottle brush to clean the bottle and breast shield.

7. Rinse all of the parts with clean hot water, and let them air dry.

8. Repeat after each use.
