Going to the doctor isn't the only way to combat esophagus cancer
Like many other bodily organs, the esophagus---the tube down which food travels from the throat to the stomach---is susceptible to the development of cancer. Difficulty swallowing, vomiting, weight loss, throat or back pain, chronic cough and hoarseness are all symptoms of cancer of the esophagus. Surgery is the number-one treatment for esophagus cancer. Other conventional treatments include radiation therapy and chemotherapy. But natural remedies exist, too, such as regular intakes of oldenlandia, selaginella and slippery elm.
Oldenlandia
Oldenlandia, or herba hedyotidis, is an herb that can be used to treat several types of cancer including esophagus cancer. For centuries, it has been used in China both for this purpose and to treat viral infections like hepatitis, skin conditions and boils. The herb can be used both to treat the symptoms of esophagus cancer as well as to combat the cancerous growth itself. Oldenlandia is available at any herbal store.
Selaginella
Selaginella, or herba selaginellae doederleinii, has long been considered a tumor inhibitor, especially in the lungs and the throat. It is commonly prescribed in China for this purpose. When selaginella is used, it's often in conjunction with more-conventional treatments, like radiation therapy or chemotherapy. Selaginella, typically available at any herbal store, can also help soothe the esophagus, as it has been traditionally used to deal with sore throats, coughs, jaundice and to generally promote healing.
Slippery Elm
One home remedy for dealing with the side effects of conventional esophagus-cancer treatments comes in the form of slippery elm. Slippery elm powder, available at any herbal store, can be added to a drink and ingested to soothe the irritated throat and esophagus. Slippery elm's natural healing properties have been used by Native Americans for centuries to soothe ulcers, burns, stomach issues, sore throats, inflammations, boils and various wounds. The herb contains mucilage, a substance that coats the throat and soothes affected areas.
