Kid And Family Beaches In New Jersey

New Jersey is the most densely populated state in the nation, and the state's residents and many East Coats travelers enjoy spending time vacationing within the state. New Jersey's coastline includes dozens of beautiful beaches, several of which are very kid-friendly. Selecting a family-friendly destination will make your vacation pleasurable, fun and a memorable experience.

Wildwood

Endearingly referred to as "Childwood," Wildwood is also known as the Wildwoods and includes North Wildwood, Wildwood and Wildwood Crest. There are a few key reasons that Wildwood is one of the best family-friendly beaches in New Jersey.

Wildwood has many motels with outdoor entrances. The motels are usually equipped with full kitchens, making meal-planning during your stay very cost-effective for a family. Most motels also have outdoor pools, which provide additional entertainment after spending a day on the beach.Often located right along the beach, these lodgings are extremely convenient for families with children of varying ages. It's not a problem to trek back and forth between your motel room and the beach various times throughout the day. Wildwood beaches are free, making it an ideal choice for large families.

Wildwood also features a boardwalk with rides and entertainment to keep the entire family entertained once the sun goes down.

Ocean City

While Ocean City, New Jersey, does not have the abundance of outdoor motels that Wildwood does, Ocean City is a dry town, meaning there is no alcohol for sale within the town limits. This makes it an ideal destination for families. Ocean City also has a boardwalk, which is a must-have for families with young children. Ocean City is home to the Discovery Seashell Museum, which offers self-guided tours.

Sea Isle City

Sea Isle City is a family-friendly destination along New Jersey's coastline. It is a short drive to both Wildwood and Ocean City. Storybook Land, an outdoor amusement park for young children, is also a short drive away. When visiting Sea Isle City or any of New Jersey's beach towns, avoid the major roadways and drive along the New Jersey Coastal Heritage Trail. This scenic route offers relaxing, quality time for families.

Things to Consider

When choosing a family destination, determine if the beaches are free, or how much it will cost for your entire family to visit the beach for the length of your stay. If your lodging doesn't contain a kitchen, evaluate area restaurants. Wildwood is commercialized and has fast-food restaurants. This is both convenient and cost-effective when traveling with kids. However, if you're more interested in a quiet, serene vacation, choose a noncommercial beach town such as Stone Harbor.
