Radiologic Technologist & Technician Programs

Radiography programs teach students to operate X-ray equipment.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that the demand for radiologic technicians and technologists will increase by 17 percent from 2008 through 2018, resulting in the creation of 37,000 new jobs in the field for those with the right education. To begin a career in the field, students must typically complete a training program approved by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. A number of schools throughout the United States offer such programs, including hospitals, traditional and community colleges.

Casper College

Casper College is a public, two-year institution located in the rural area of Casper, Wyoming. Before enrolling in the college's Associate of Applied Science degree program in radiologic technology, students must complete prerequisite classes in anatomy, physiology, mathematics, English, medical terminology, government and psychology or sociology. Once admitted, students take professional classes that may include pharmacology, patient care management, radiation protection and computer information systems. The curriculum includes six clinical rotations. These are completed in Casper-area medical centers or in locations throughout Wyoming, allowing students to find a placement close to home. Sources of financial aid include federal and state grants and loans, veteran benefits and institutional scholarship programs. The college's career center provides job placement assistance for all graduates.
