Citizen Medical Center in Victoria, Texas, offer a radiologic technologist certification program.
Citizens Medical Center Radiologic Technology School is the only institution in Victoria, Texas, that offers a radiology program. The 24-month program admits at least five new students each year. A certificate-based program, students also can earn their associate's degrees through Victoria College with additional coursework. Graduates of the program must pass an exam developed by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists to be eligible for entry-level work as a radiographer.
General Information
Citizens Medical Center School of Radiologic Technology is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JCERT). Tuition is $1,000 for the program and includes all coursework and books. Students are not compensated for their clinical work and federally-secured loans are not available through the program.
Admissions
Applicants must have at least a high school diploma or equivalent, be 18 years old at the time of admission, have completed one algebra course, one human anatomy or biology course and one college medical terminology course. They must also have three credits received from a college communications course and nine credits from other general education classes, which can be taken at Victoria College.
Certificate Requirements
Students applying for graduation from the program must earn at least a "C" average. Students also must complete clinical study during which they will be assigned to rotations in various departments at Citizens Medical Center. Clinical study focuses on diagnostic radiology. Students must meet standards of the ASRT to pass clinical study. That includes maintaining a minimum grade of 85 percent. The ASRT has mandated that radiologists must have at least an associate degree as of 2015. Students can fulfill that requirement through the school's articulation program with Victoria College.
