The association offers a list of accredited forensic science colleges and universities.


Florida International University


Florida International University is an AAFS-accredited school that offers a certificate in forensic science, a master's in forensic science and a PhD in chemistry with a forensic science concentration. The university includes the International Forensic Research Institute, which conducts research in forensic science, offers scientific expertise to local law enforcement and legal institutions and provides continuing education and advanced training for forensic scientists. The forensic science program offers online courses and regular courses at the university, located in Miami.

Michigan State University


Michigan State University offers an AAFS-accredited forensic science program that includes a master's degree in the field. The School of Criminal Justice at Michigan State offers modern research and teaching laboratories for forensic science that include state-of-the-art forensics equipment. The Michigan State Police Forensic Science Division's laboratory headquarters is near campus, and the police department offers internship positions and research resources. The Michigan State forensic science program includes forensic chemistry, forensic biology and forensic anthropology. Virginia Commonwealth University


Virginia Commonwealth University is an AAFS-accredited institution that offers bachelor's and master's degrees in forensic science. The undergraduate program offers courses in forensic microscopy, crime-scene search and recovery techniques and forensic chemistry, while the graduate school covers subjects such as DNA analysis, advanced drug analysis, forensic medicine and firearm and toolmark identification.
