Jessica stays slim with fruit and balanced meals.
Singer and reality star Jessica Simpson is perhaps as famous for her dietary choices as she is for her career. She has openly discussed her theories on food and dieting techniques in the press, but has recently achieved a healthy maintenance routine with some simple tricks and new-found advice.

1. Balance and moderate your diet: In the past, Jessica Simpson admitted to yo-yo dieting with such plans as the Atkins diet and other carb-restrictive plans. Instead of aiding in slim downs, the plans inevitably led to overeating and weight gain, which Jessica got under control on her own. Jessica stressed "balance and moderation" as the key to her slim figure during her reality TV show "Newlyweds" and tried to balance out decadent treats with healthy choices.
2. Understanding portion control: Although Jessica naturally eats healthy snacks like fruits (sprinkled with salt) or peanut butter and bananas, she also understands the concept of portion control. She handles meals with the "two bite rule" (only having a few bites for taste) or simply having a small portion of her favorites (one pancake instead of a stack or one slice of pizza instead of many.)
3. Be regimented if necessary: After landing movie roles in the "Dukes of Hazard" or "Employee of the Month," Jessica began following a more regimented approach to nutrition with the help of her personal trainer and 5 Factor Founder Harley Pasternak. He created a plan based on the "5 Factor Diet" that consists of five small meals per day, using less than five ingredients. Keep your own diet simple by enjoying fist-sized portions of healthy foods with minimal and fresh contents.
4. Create your own diet: Although Jessica's diet foods are delivered directly to her door, you can create your own "5 Factor Diet" recipes at home by researching the plan or trying to balance lean proteins, low-glycemic index carbs and healthy fats. Jessica is also careful to drink only sugar-free or no-calorie beverages on the plan (like water, tea or no-calorie juice), although she has also been known to favor sugar-free energy drinks.
5. Treat yourself: Due to Jessica's tendency to overeat in the past, her new 5 Factor plan achieves balance by allowing her one day per week to enjoy whatever she wants to eat. Try following your own balanced, healthy plan six days per week, but allow one day off for indulgence. This can help refuel your motivation for the week ahead and keep life (and eating) fun and enjoyable.
