There are several types of medical colleges in Miami, from health-related vocational programs to university medical schools with full-service teaching hospitals. Whether you want to become an ultrasound or medical lab technician, or if you want to go all the way through medical school and land a specialization residency, Miami has what you need.
Miami Dade College
Miami Dade College (MDC) is more than just a community college. MDC has a dedicated medical center campus adjacent to the massive University of Miami Jackson Health Care Campus near downtown Miami. MDC offers medical career certificate programs, including medical assisting, pharmacy technician training and practical nursing. These vocational programs typically take one year to complete with a full-time class schedule. If you want to take your medical career further, MDC has a nursing school, where you can become a registered nurse, as well a bachelor's degree program that will prepare you to become a physician's assistant.

Dade Medical College
With four campuses stretching from Homestead to Hollywood, Dade Medical College (DMC) is one of the most prominent vocational medical colleges in Miami. DMC offers degree programs in ultrasound, radiology technician training, health care management and practical nursing, among other specialties. Most programs take approximately two years to complete and career placement services are available.

University of Miami Miller School of Medicine
If you are interested in an advanced medical career, consider the University of Miami's Miller School of Medicine. With one of the top medical research programs in the country (U.S. News and World Report ranked it number 51 in 2010) and a nursing school that offers advanced specializations in pediatrics and oncology, UM's Miller School of Medicine offers the most advanced medical training available in South Florida.
