Create ribbon crafts for kids to enjoy.
Whether you're hosting a birthday party, are the troop leader of Girl Scout/Boy Scout troop, or just looking for something for your kids to do, many craft ideas will fit the bill. Kids can use ribbon to make lots of different things themselves that they will use and enjoy.
Hair Accessories
Many little girls love to wear bows in their hair. The ribbons that many kids wear are very easy to make, even for small children. All you need is some ribbon, scissors, hair clips, and fabric glue. Have each girl choose the ribbon(s) she likes best, and then glue the ribbon directly onto the hair clip (alligator clips work best). You can even purchase some buttons and beads so each girl can then embellish her own hair accessory.
Picture Frames
Decorating picture frames is a fun project for boys and girls alike. Purchase as many frames as there will be children working on the craft. You can find very inexpensive frames at "dollar stores." Just make sure that you tell each child to bring his favorite picture with him. You could also take pictures of the children and print them out at your own computer on film paper. Place the picture in the frame, and let the kids work on the decorating. Use the ribbon to decorate around the sides of the frame and use extra embellishments (like beads, crystals, bows, and buttons) to further decorate the new frames.
Bedroom Lamp Shade
For a fun ribbon craft and an easy way to decorate a bedroom, have children make their own ribbon lamp shade. You can purchase inexpensive, plain lamp shades that are easy to decorate (keep in mind that pleated shades tend to be a little tougher to decorate). Pre-cut the ribbon so that it fits perfectly around the shade--this will make it a little easier on the kids. Then, the kids can have fun gluing the ribbons around their new shade. They can simply add a few colorful stripes, or completely transform the entire shade with the ribbon. Not only is this craft easy and inexpensive, but it's something the kids will have for a long time.
