As a cardiovascular technologist, you will work under the direction of a physician, caring for patients who have heart problems. According to a September, 2010, survey by Payscale.com, these professionals earn above average incomes.


Longevity


Cardiovascular technologists can expect to start out earning between $23,500 and $39,236 a year as a cardiovascular technologist. After at least one year, earnings can go as high as $55,405 at the higher end and after a decade, workers are reporting earning between $57,500 and $88,660.


Geography


Different parts of the U.S. pay different salaries for cardiovascular technologists. According to a September, 2010 report by Payscale.com, some of the highest salaries for these workers can be found in New York state where the range is between $50,000 and $98,011 a year. Working in New Jersey could net a much lower salary; those workers report earning between $36,000 and $55,982 annually.


Employer


Cardiovascular technologists working for hospitals and other large medical facilities are reporting earning at least $35,886 on the lower end and up to $51,395 a year at the higher end. Those employed by private practices are reporting earning between $54,515 and $73,698 a year.
