Lpn Schools In Tampa

Tampa, Florida has numerous programs for licensed practical nursing.

Tampa, Florida has numerous programs for licensed practical nursing (LPN) that confer a certificate of completion and allow graduates to sit for the national licensing exam. These programs have various options for applicants, including day or evening programs and full-time or part-time attendance. Before applying, applicants should check the Florida Board of Nursing website to ensure that their chosen programs have current state approval (see Resources).

Brewster Technical Center

Brewster Technical Center admits students twice a year to its LPN program-fall and spring. Admission requirements include a high school diploma or GED and a satisfactory score on the Test for Basic Adult Education (TABE) entrance exam. Applicants who possess a college degree are exempt from taking the entrance exam. Brewster accepts applications in-person only and conducts a lottery to choose students. Selected students have a second deadline to submit an application pack with proof of a physical exam, immunizations and statement of tuition payment method or risk losing their place in the class.

Erwin Technical Center

Erwin Technical Center conducts a LPN program with two options-day and evening. The day program admits students three times a year and lasts 14 months, while the evening program admits students every 16 months and lasts that long. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, obtain satisfactory scores on the TABE entrance exam or present a college degree, schedule a date for the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) entrance exam, attend a mandatory information session, show proof of immunizations and get a physical exam. They also must submit to a criminal background check and random drug testing. After passing the TABE and TEAS exams and attending the information session, Erwin Technical Center then gives applicants a second application packet to complete. All students who submit the second application and pass the background check will either be admitted to the next class or placed on the priority list for the following class.
