Promote awareness in your community by handing out cancer ribbons.
To help promote awareness of various forms of cancer, many people wear cancer ribbons during certain cancer awareness months or events. Creating cancer awareness ribbons requires little skill, but will require some time if you plan to make a large number of ribbons. You can create your own cancer ribbons to promote awareness of any form of cancer, from leukemia to breast or bladder cancers.
Instructions
1. Choose the color of ribbon that corresponds with the form of cancer you'd like to make people more aware of. To discover what color you need for that form of cancer, visit the resources section below for a link to Crafts 'n' Scraps.
2. Measure and cut each piece of ribbon to measure three inches long. Cut each piece of ribbon at an angle to prevent the ribbon from fraying and to give a nice finished edge.
3. Fold down one end of the ribbon to create a sharp U-shape. Hold the ribbon down against a table and wrap the other end of the ribbon back around and over itself to create a top loop. Adjust the ends of the ribbon so that an inch of ribbon sticks out past where the ribbon overlaps itself.
4. Secure the ribbon where it overlaps. Use a very small dot of hot glue to hold the ribbon into this shape and allow the glue to dry for a few seconds.
5. Push a safety pin through the ribbon, slightly above the dried glue. Use this safety pin to pin the ribbon to your shirt or lapel.
6. Repeat all steps to create as many ribbons as you need.
