Decorate A Lazy Susan With Mosaic Tile

Decorate a plain lazy susan top with mosaic tile.

A lazy susan is ideal for use on large tables, allowing diners to have easier access to dishes and condiments as it rotates. Lazy susans come in different sizes and styles, but they may not always have the decorative look you desire for your dining room. Using mosaic tiles to create either full designs or small accents gives the lazy susan color and style. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Clean the surface of the lazy susan to remove any dust or food particles from the surface. Wipe it down with soap and water and let it dry completely.

2. Turn the lazy susan over, face down onto a piece of paper, and trace around the top on a piece of paper. Cut out the outline.

3. Lay out the mosaic tile on the paper template to explore the decorative potential and to give you creative ideas for the final design. Arrange the final pattern on the paper.

4. Mix up a batch of mosaic craft cement according to your brand's instructions. Aim for a texture consistency similar to cake batter.

5. Spread a layer of the cement on top of the lazy susan. Make the cement thick enough so that the top few centimeters of the tile stick out. Transfer the tiles one by one from the paper template to the lazy susan by pressing them in place. Let the cement dry overnight.

6. Fill in the space between the mosaic tiles by spreading a layer of grout over the tiles with a spatula. Push it down into all spaces between each tile and wipe away excess with a moist sponge. Let the grout dry before using the lazy susan.
