Instructions
1. Be strong. Lance is strong in body and spirit. He gives everything in life his absolute all. This was true with his battle with cancer, as well as his cycling career. With a positive attitude, miracles can happen.
2. Keep dreaming. Think of the future. Never let the thought of failure enter the mind. Think of all the things that wait just beyond the battle with cancer.
3. Enlist a support team. Family and friends can provide emotional and physical support. Having people nearby lightens the load for any other family members, and assists the patient emotionally. Make sure that these people are positive, as any negativity will hurt rather than help in this time of need.
4. Employ the best of the best. Choose doctors that are experienced and excel at what they specialize in. By having the best care, positive outcomes are more likely.
5. Accept help when it's offered. People want to help. Offers of cooking, cleaning, watching the kids, or simply lending an ear are genuine and help immensely. If no one is offering, don't be afraid to ask. Some people are just waiting for the call of need to help out.
6. Nurture the body. Rest is imperative when dealing with cancer and its treatments. There will be down times, and times where bed is the only place to be. Accept this, and know that it is the best option for the body, and necessary for recovery.
