Chippewa Valley Technical College, which has campuses all over Wisconsin, offers a diagnostic medical sonography program at its Eau Claire campus, just east of the Wisconsin/Minnesota border and Minneapolis, Minnesota. This fully accredited associate degree program trains students on abdominal, obstetrical, gynecologic and superficial structure imaging as well as limited vascular ultrasound imaging. This is a 72-credit-hour program and it takes two to two and a half years to complete. Some of the classes in this program are anatomy and physiology, abdominal, OB/GYN and vascular sonography, cross sectional anatomy and sonography physics and instrumentation. Graduates are awarded an associate degree in diagnostic medical sonography and are eligible to take the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) certification exams to become a licensed sonographer.

Just a short drive past the Wisconsin/Minnesota state line is Argosy University in Eagan, Minnesota. Argosy is a fully accredited private university that offers an associate in science degree program in diagnostic medical sonography. Argosy's DMS program is a 70-credit-hour program. Students are also required to complete 21 credit hours of general education classes. Argosy's DMS program requires that students choose an area of concentration: echocardiography, general sonography or vascular technology. Classes vary depending on the program core chosen.
