Calcium is a naturally occurring mineral in many municipal water supplies.
Calcium deposits form on shower heads, taps and other plumbing fixtures over time as natural minerals in the water build up to form concretions. Calcification is more common in cities, towns and other areas with high mineral content in the water, sometimes known as "hard" water. Instructions
1. Disconnect the shower head from the plumbing by unscrewing it from the shower arm or pipe.
2. Fill a bowl with equal parts water and white vinegar and submerge the shower head. Let the head sit overnight in the water-vinegar solution to allow the calcification to break down.
3. Rinse the shower head thoroughly, brushing off calcium deposits on the rubber spray tips, if necessary.
4. Return the shower head to the bathroom or repeat the process if calcification is particularly severe.
