Instructions

Installation Preparation

1. Check your Internet connection. Your router should be connected to a wired broadband Internet connection.

2. Select the location for your ethernet switch. If you want to connect a PlayStation or X-BOX to the Internet also, place your ethernet switch close to your TV. If you do not play video games online, place the ethernet switch close to the router.

3. Measure your ethernet cables. You need two ethernet cables for this installation. One to connect the ethernet switch to the router and one to connect the ethernet switch to the Dish Network receiver. Measure the distance from switch to router and from Dish Network receiver to the switch.

4. Connect your ethernet switch to your router. Do not disconnect cables from ports such as LAN, Broadband, WAN or Internet. Use your available ethernet port. If you have other connections plugged into your router simply plug them into the ethernet switch. Connect one end of the ethernet cable consistent with your measurement from switch to router into the router. Connect the other end of this cable into the ethernet switch. Complete manufacturer's installation instructions for the ethernet switch.

5. Ensure that all connections to your router are active and performing correctly. For example, if you have multiple computers connected to the router ensure they can still connect to the Internet.

Installation

6. Plug one end of the ethernet cable consistent with the measurement from switch to Dish Network receiver into an ethernet port on your switch. Plug the other end of this ethernet cable into the ethernet port on the back of your Dish Network receiver.

7. Verify that the lights on the Dish Network receiver's Ethernet port are on. Green indicates active and yellow indicates data reception.

8. Select "Menu" on your Dish Network remote control. Choose "System Setup." Select "Installation." Select "Broadband Setup." Select "Network Setup." An IP address will become visible on your screen (e.g. 111.111.111). If you only see multiple zeros instead of a group of numbers, select "Reset Connection." Wait for setup to reset your connection as prompted by the Attention Message.

9. Ensure "Connection Status" located at the bottom of your screen reads "Connection Online." If Connection Status reads "Connection Online" select "Done."

10. Test the Dish Network receiver connection. Select "Menu" on your Dish Network remote control. Choose "System Setup." Choose "Diagnostics." Choose "Connection" on the far right of the Diagnostics screen. "Broadband Connection OK" will display on your TV screen.
