Junior Colleges In Las Vegas

Las Vegas had a 2010 population of 609,998.


Junior colleges offer many advantages over four-year schools. For one, junior schools provide students with degrees for much cheaper than regular universities. Las Vegas is home to four junior colleges. Las Vegas's exciting atmosphere creates a unique learning environment for students enrolled at these schools. These junior colleges all offer associate's degrees in areas like nursing, criminal justice, business management and culinary arts.


College of Southern Nevada


The College of Southern Nevada opened in 1971 and has about 43,000 students enrolled across several campuses. CSN offers associate's degrees in dental hygiene, automotive technology, electronic engineering, real estate and occupational therapy, among many other degrees. Students can earn certificates as nursing assistants, contact lens technicians and emergency medical technicians. The college offers financial aid along with academic scholarships to students.

High-Tech Institute


High-Tech Institute is a nationwide chain of specialty colleges owned by the Anthem Education Group. The Las Vegas branch sits in the heart of Las Vegas, just south of the downtown area. The school offers two-year degrees in business management, massage therapy, computer science and paralegal studies, along with many other majors. High-Tech Institute requires students to take an entrance exam as part of their application process.

Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts sits on the western edge of Las Vegas. Le Cordon Bleu began in Paris in 1895 and has set up culinary schools around the world. The Las Vegas branch only offers certificates in culinary arts or pastry arts. The school believes the limited degree selection allows the staff to teach subjects more in-depth. Le Cordon Bleu provides many different financial aid packages to students after they have been accepted.

Kaplan College in Las Vegas works as part of a nationwide chain of Kaplan schools offering two-year degrees in many subjects. Kaplan is the second-largest educational institution in the United States. Kaplan College offers associate's degrees in criminal justice, information technology, health assistance and photographic design.
