Do It Yourself Displays For Trade Shows

When setting up a trade show display, your first consideration should be attract a crowd. Most of the time, you are assigned a space to do with what you will and it usually boils down to how you place your products in your booth. It's not rocket science--you can do it yourself without the help of outside consultants or marketing firms. Setting up a display, no matter what it's for, is about attracting people. When selling products, make sure that you are in the right kind of trade show--it won't do any good to go to a health and beauty trade ssell genetically-altered products.

Instructions

1. Arrange your products in an eye-catching way. Set items up by similar or contrasting colors. Grouping bright colors such as orange and yellow draws people's attention regardless of whether they like the products, marketing psychologist Diane Toops writes in an article, Psychological Impact of Color, on the All Business website

2. Place catchy signs in various places. Whether it is just a brightly-colored sign or one with a catchy title, it will attract people's attention enough to make them look at your other products as well. In your face signs are a great way to bring people in, telling them that they need your product. Don't plaster your booth with signs, though, because people will become overwhelmed. A simple sign directly over a sale item or a small sign next to an item that may come in different colors or styles on your website are all that you need. People will want to see the website if they like the items they find in your booth.

3. Display your business name and clearly identify what your business does. Don't let clutter get in the way. This confuses people and turns them off from your products. Get rid of excessive signs or stacks of paperwork or in the way of your business name. A simple poster in the back, out of the way, or a banner in the front of your booth is all you need to tell people who you are.

4. Stock your booth with people who are well-informed about your product. Nobody wants to talk to someone who's clueless about the product they're selling.

5. Minimize your display. Don't fill every available space, or you'll risk overwhelming potential customers. Instead, place a few items out for display and hand out business cards so that people will have to visit your website to see your whole product line. At the same time, don't leave large empty spaces--people will think that you have run out of product or didn't come prepared.
