Make Cornhole Bags

Cornhole Bags

In the backyard game of cornhole, teams of two compete against each other using nothing more than plywood and cornhole bags. Since you are making your own cornhole bags for your backyard fun, select matching fabrics for you and any of your teammates. Just make sure the fabric is heavy-duty.

Instructions

1. Cut your fabric into 16 7x7 squares. All of the small squares need to be the same size.

2. Place two squares together. This method will make eight cornhole bags. If your fabric has a design on it, you need to ensure that the designs are facing each other when you put the squares together. You should not be able to see the design at this point.

3. Use your sewing machine to sew a 0.5-inch seam around all sides of the bag. Make sure to leave a small opening in the middle of one side of the bag to make sure you can put the corn in. The hole should be big enough to fit a small funnel into it.

4. Turn the bag inside out using the hole you left in one side of the bag. Use your funnel to get 1 1/2 cups of dry corn kernels into each bag.

5. Fold the open seam of the bag into the bag after filling it with kernels. Use your sewing machine to stitch the opening closed. Make sure that stitches are nice and tight all the way around to ensure the bags don't open and lose the kernels.

Tips Warnings

You can hand-stitch the bags as well, but this will take a very long time.

If you do not have a proper funnel, use half of a 2-liter plastic bottle.

Do not use light-weight fabric, even if it is more attractive looking. In the long run this can make your bags weak.

Do not use fabric that will easily fray or fabrics that have an open weave.
