Fun With Sharpies

Sharpies

Sharpie is a popular brand of permanent markers invented in 1964. The markers come in more than 35 colors and can be used on many different surfaces, making them an innovative medium for a variety of craft projects. Many people only use Sharpies for practical uses, such a labeling. However, there are a plenitude of creative projects to enjoy using Sharpies.

Decorating

One way to use Sharpies is for decorating. You can use coordinating colors and a stencil or draw designs on an old lampshade. Tasteful designs can be added around the room, serving as a unique border. Because Sharpies are permanent, you can use them to add character to curtains, perhaps by making desirable designs along the hem. Selecting a design and drawing it on the outer shell of your computer is a good way to make a mundane tool a little brighter.

Amazingly, people have even used Sharpies to decorate their bikes and vehicles. Adding designs to backpacks and purses is another way to use them.

People can even decorate their bodies with Sharpies. You can draw temporary tattoos with them. Henna tattoos can be created using fine-tip Sharpies.

Clothing

Sharpies can make ordinary clothing quite unique. Adding some abstract designs to your jeans is a fun way to start. T-shirt decorating is another, and there is a ton of room for creativity with this craft. You can use stencil designs, sketch patterns, or simply write bold words of your choice on them. Another simple thing to do with Sharpies is to use them as the ink for tie dying clothing. This is quite an innovation because Sharpies are available in a much wider range of colors than traditional tie dye inks, and they are more economical, too.

Practical

Keeping a few Sharpies available in your house or car is good idea, given their practical usability. They can be used for small labeling jobs, such as writing the names of people on their plastic cups at parties to avoid confusion. They can be used to label clothing and school supplies for children going to school. They can label CDs and DVDs, as well as test drawers or files.

Sharpies can also be a practical tool for salvaging stained items. If some designer shoes have been stained, a few creative drawings can cover the stains and make it seem purposeful. If a small stain cannot be removed from a favorite T-shirt, as an example, why not draw over it and add some character to it?

Gifts

It doesn't take a large amount of skill or practice to use Sharpies, so they are ideal in making quick gifts for others. Beautiful cards can be decorated as a gift. Small, witty signs can be drawn. You can purchase plain wooden or glass boxes and can use Sharpies to add color to suit the recipient. Coffee cups with personalized writing are another good gift. A cloth-covered journal with Sharpie drawings can be a customized gift that many will appreciate.
