Make A Military Survival Kit

Make a Military Survival Kit

Military life often requires being put in situations that may compromise a soldier's safety. It is times such as these when staying alive becomes the priority for the soldier so that they may return to their awaiting families in one piece. Making and carrying a military survival kit can help to ensure that you are never caught in these unfortunate situations without supplies to keep you alive and well. Constructing a military survival kit is simple and can be the difference between life and death.

Instructions

1. Find a weather resistant container. This container will hold the majority of the supplies in your kit. Element and weather resistance is key as you will be subjected to this when trying to survive. You will especially want to make sure it is both air and water tight as well as compact for easy carrying. The size of this container should fit easily in your pocket.

2. Pack basic emergency medical supplies. When you are trying to survive in the military, one of your worst enemies can be your own mortality. Keeping wounds clean and taking care of yourself medically is of utmost importance. Be sure to add supplies like a needle and thread (for sewing wounds), antiseptic or disinfectant (small alcohol wipes are good), and a maxi pad (works well for sucking wounds and bleeding).

3. Use dual functioning items. In times of survival ensuring that you have a military kit that has items that have more than one purpose is very important as is raises the efficiency of your kit. Thread for instance, can be used to sew wounds and as fishing line. Cotton balls can dipped in Vaseline and used to clean wounds or as kindle to start a fire. Make sure that every item you pack (even the container itself) can be used for something to promote your survival.

4. Place all your chosen items inside your container. To further raise the efficiency of your military survival kit make sure that all the items are packed inside the container as compactly as possible. The smaller the size of the kit is the better without compromising the necessary elements. You may also want to place a small piece of light reflecting, brightly colored material inside your kit that you can use in case you need to flag rescue down. This can be done by using a mirror as it also can be used so you can inspect yourself as well.

5. Remember what you are wearing. Your uniform or clothes always can be used as part of your survival kit. Clothes can be torn to make bandages or also used as a filtration system for cleaner water. You may also tie off your clothing trapping the air inside to use it as a floatation device if you are not a strong swimmer and must cross large bodies of water.
