Oakland Community College is a public, two-year college located northwest of Detroit in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. OCC offers an associate degree program in diagnostic medical sonography and students must complete a minimum of 73 credit hours, making this an extended associate degree program. The program carries accreditation and approval from the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs. Curriculum includes orientation to sonography, physics applied to sonography, cross-sectional anatomy and fundamentals of sonography. Graduates will be able to sit for the national credential exam offered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers to become licensed sonographers.

Baker College
Baker College is the largest independent college in the state of Michigan. Baker has multiple campus locations throughout the state and offers a diagnostic medical sonography program at the Auburn Hills and Owosso campuses, both just outside of Detroit. The program has accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Educational Programs upon recommendation of the Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography. Students in this associate degree program will learn concepts such as diagnostic ultrasound equipment, anatomy and physiology, principles of sonographic physics and close patient contact. Graduates will be able to sit for certification examination to become a registered diagnostic medical sonographer.

Sanford-Brown Dearborn Campus
Sanford-Brown is a private, independent, post-secondary institution with multiple campus locations in the United States. At the campus location in Dearborn, Michigan, just outside of Detroit, Sanford-Brown offers a diploma program in diagnostic medical sonography. Some of the concepts covered in this program include sonographic patterns of organs, proper protocols to survey organs, technical impressions and laboratory procedure component. It takes two years to complete this program. This program does not have accreditation from the Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs, like most DMS programs, bit the college itself has accreditation from the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS), a national accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education (DOE).
