Belle Party Ideas For A Toddler Birthday

Treat your little girl to a princess Belle themed birthday party.

Every toddler deserves to be pampered on her birthday. Make your little girl feel like a princess by hosting a Belle themed birthday party. Based on the popular French fairy tale (and later Disney movie sensation) The Beauty and the Beast, a Belle themed party is a whimsical and fanciful option for a toddler party theme.

Invitations

Dainty, romantic invitations based off of icons from the traditional fairy tale set the mood for the party and establish the theme before guests even arrive. Consider crafting homemade invitations inspired by one of the many symbols of the story or film. For example, a simple folding invitation made from recycled pressed paper and stamped with a rose shape recall the images of the delicate glass-encased rose that the Beast protects. A more general option would be to cut a template of a hand held mirror from a piece of heavy card stock. Glue or tape a piece of highly reflective paper or tin foil into the circular area of the card and decorate the edges with ribbon or glitter; write the party information on the back of the invitation.

Decorations

Most party stores maintain a supply of Disney Belle-themed plates, cups or life-sized cartoon cutouts. However, a more subtle option would be to decorate the party space to look like the Belle's prized library. Line the walls with standing shelves and cardboard children's books or old copies of classic nursery rhymes. Set up several read areas so that parents can read to their children during breaks in party activities. Instead of tablecloths, cover food tales with fake rose petals. Designate an imaginary play area with several cardboard boxes that children can stack and crawl through to create Belle's castle.

Food and Drink

Kid-friendly sweets are ideal for a Belle toddler birthday party. For example, use a heart shaped cookie cutter to cut out several types of miniature sandwiches like peanut butter and banana or strawberry marshmallow fluff. Another option is to put a spin on the Belle theme and opt for Southern foods as a reference to a southern Belle. Serve chicken nuggets, miniature biscuits and greens such as spinach. Instead of a cake, serve several small desserts on elegant tiered dessert stands. Miniature cupcakes with yellow or pink frosting are colorful options while white and pink chocolate covered petit fours are more sophisticated options.

Activities

Keep toddler guests entertained with simple, short activities. Ask some adult volunteers to man a princess makeover station where guests can receive a bit of glitter or a princess crown. If you are able to purchase a life-size Belle cut out, carefully remove the face and invite guests to pose with their faces instead. Take digital photos and print them out to serve as favors for guests. Combine decorations and an activity by renting a castle themed bounce house in a sunny yellow color to get kids moving during the party.
