Decorate Gifts With Tulle

Soft-looking tulle makes a nice embellishment for gifts.


Although decorating gifts with tulle is not complicated, many people are unsure use this light material. Stretched-out tulle appears thin and unimpressive. Gather it up and tulle transforms into an attractive wrapping material. Use tulle as a basket cover or as a fancy hand-made embellishment on a gift bag. Learn use tulle properly and all your gifts will look special.


Instructions


Gift Basket


1. Smooth out the tulle on a work area like a clean table. You will 2 yards of material to cover a medium basket.


2. Fill your basket with gifts, arranging them attractively.


3. Set the basket in the center of the tulle.


4. Put a large rubber band on your wrist.


5. Gather the material up above the handle of the basket. Do this in sections. Gather the front and back first. Then add the two sides of the fabric.


6. Grasp the tulle with your left hand then with your right hand wrap the rubber band around the tulle to cinch it.


7. Shift the fabric around to make it look taut with even pleats.


8. Trim the top of the tulle with sharp scissors. Leave the top fluffy. Do not cut it too short.


9. Cut a 2-foot section from a contrasting tulle color.


10. Center the small section over the rubber band and tie it in a bow to cover it. Fluff the bow.


Pom-Pom


11. Cut six sections from the tulle. Each section should be 10 inches long. Any width will do. The larger the width is, the fluffier the bow.


12. Lay a piece of tulle on a flat surface horizontally.


13. Tie another piece of tulle to the first piece, vertically. You should have a cross shape in front of you.


14. Turn the tulle slightly, making an X shape in front you.


15. Tie another section to the tulle in the empty vertical space between the first two pieces.


16. Keep turning the fabric, adding new sections to it until all six sections are tied on.


17.Lay the pom-pom in front of you. Stretch out two pieces to use for tying to the gift package.


18. Grasp the other pieces with one hand and cut them down with scissors. The shorter your pieces, the fluffier your tulle will be, but use caution. If you cut the pom-pom too short, it will look puny.


19. Tie the pom-pom to the package and fluff the bow with your fingers.
