Sometimes a bathtub, sink or shower faucet needs more than tightening. If the gasket seats have become worn, they are not repairable, and the entire faucet must be replaced.
Instructions
1. Locate the water supply to the faucet.
2. Turn it off.
3. Open both handles on the faucet.
4. Disconnect the water supply lines. Use a basin wrench to get to hard to reach nuts.
5. Unscrew the winged plastic hold-down nuts, and remove the existing faucet.
6. Clean the surface where the new faucet will be installed.
7. Set the new faucet's mounting plate in place.
8. Insert the new faucet onto the mounting plate.
9. Tighten the winged plastic locknuts onto the shank ends of the faucet. Use your hand to tighten.
10. Replace the water supply lines, and thread the supply nuts onto the faucet shanks.
11. Turn on the water, and test for leaks.
Tips Warnings
Generally, the water supply is located beneath the sink or lavatory.
Never use a wrench or other tools to tighten nuts and bolts with plastic threads; always tighten them by hand.
